Two days ago, the US celebrated the 75th anniversary of D-Day with accolades to the armed forces and thanks to surviving veterans. The country stood strongly with the military. But today two days later is the 52 anniversary of a day of shame when Washington turned its back on the US Navy. It was June 8, 1967 when the USS Liberty, a surveillance ship stationed off the coast of Egypt, was attacked by Israeli fighter aircraft and torpedo boats. The Israelis were unable to sink the Liberty, but managed to kill 34 American sailors and wound 174. Seventy percent of the crew were casualties of the Israeli attack.

This hasbara is based on the narrative that people in Poland and elsewhere in Eastern Europe are bad people, and that they owe the Jews. It is equally based on the mirror-image narrative: Jews in Eastern Europe were just victims and never did anything wrong.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s book challenges these premises. No wonder it has been censored. The most recent attempt at an English-language translation, THE CRUCIFIXION OF RUSSIA (by Columbus Falco) has suddenly disappeared from Amazon after being carried for a few months.

On Thursday at noon, United States law enforcement officials, some of them helmeted and wearing flak jackets and carrying battering rams, forced their way into the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, D.C., detaining four anti-war activists who had been residing there.
The activists, Kevin Zeese, Margaret Flowers, Adrienne Pine and David Paul, part of a group calling themselves the Embassy Protection Collective (EPC), had been invited to stay inside the Venezuelan embassy over a month ago by the elected and internationally recognized government of President Nicolas Maduro.
W czwartek w południe funkcjonariusze organów ścigania w Stanach Zjednoczonych, niektórzy z nich w hełmach i ubrani w kamizelki kuloodporne i niosący tarany, wtargnęli do ambasady Wenezueli w Waszyngtonie, zatrzymując czterech przebywających tam antywojennych działaczy.
